Our Breeding Philosophy
Our goal is to produce the healthiest, puppies possible with good temperaments and solid, correct structure. We produce 3-4 litters per year. In each litter there will be some pet quality and some show/breed quality. We reserve some of the highest quality breeding potential puppies for co-ownerships with families. Dynasty reserves breeding rights to these dogs and will assist their new homes with training and showing these top contenders. We do not have dozens of dogs living with us in kennels. Our dogs live in our homes and are an integral part of our daily lives. We believe in keeping the number or our personally owned dogs manageable, every dog has the right to a loving family who has the time to give to their individual attention and well being so we co-own many of our best puppies. Finding quality, life-long homes for our wonderful Miniature American Shepherds whether they are show quality or pet quality is given highest priority. To start the process, a potential home would fill out the application. Upon acceptance, a nonrefundable deposit holds a puppy for you. In order to match the right puppy to the right home, we test them at 7-8 weeks old for temperament and structure. This is when we determine which ones are show and which are pet. Being a pet quality does not mean there is anything wrong with them that may cause problems later. It means they do not meet the highest standard we expect out of our breeding and showing prospects.
After these tests, we can determine which temperament will work best for which new home. We do not place puppies by color or eye color, while a new owner may have a color preference. We will match our puppies based upon temperament and take your color preference into consideration. Each litter undergoes ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation), puppy culture, and temperament/structure testing while being raised. Our puppies are raised in a clean, nurturing environment. Our puppies are raised in our homes. We share frequent photos and videos of each litter on our Facebook page so you can watch them grow and how they interact with each other.
We consider health, temperament, structure and breed type prior to each breeding. Every breeding prospect must have their Eye Certification (CAER) showing that there are no hereditary eye problems and their hips/elbows OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America) to ensure no hip dysplasia. We have multiple genetic tests done by Gen Sol/Embark/Animal Genetic and Purdue University. All breeding dogs are tested for MDR1/HC/PRA/DM/CDDY/NAD/Non HSF4/CDPA. Some of our breeding dogs are cleared by parentage and you will find the parent's genetic testing on our website.
All new homes are encouraged to attend a puppy class. MAS enjoy learning and we encourage you to try new things with your new puppy. A good start is extremely important in your relationship with your new family member, and this includes establishing a strong leader/happy follower relationship early on. Miniature American Shepherds are very loyal and loving and once this relationship is established they will do anything to please you.

With over 20 years of experience in breeding and training, we focus on creating and maintaining that special bond between humans and our canine companions.
